2007: The End? - May

We're down to just 26 new entries in May but the indie/garage rock count has shrunk further to just 5 though that's still more than any other genre. None of those records get any points.

The best record comes from Groove Armada with "Get Down". It had been 4 years since their last Top 40 hit and was their penultimate one to date. It reminds me of the Galaxy Chart on MTV dance. Elsewhere in the dance world we have Sandy Rivera with the rather irritating "Lollipop", Booty Luv with more commercial fodder and Sunblock with their cheesy remake of "Baby Baby".

There are no rap new entries this month but R&B wise we have the worst record which is "Umbrella" by Rihanna ft Jay-Z. Not only was this irritating, played all the time and number one forever, it also ensured Rihanna wasn't going to be short lived and that she'd go on to have shit song after shit song.

Another strong contender for worst record was "Real Girl" by Mutya. Based on a sample of the excellent "It Ain't Over Till It's Over" by Lenny Kravitz, it's in every way inferior. The remaining R&B record "Take Control" by Amerie is almost as shit.

Even more strong contenders for worst record come from Amy Winehouse with "Back In Black", JoJo with "Anything", Scooch with "Flying the Flag (For You)", Sophie Ellis-Bextor with "Me And My Imagination" and CSS with "Let's Make Love and Listen to Death From Above". The latter just makes me think what a racket.

There is a half mark for Hellogoodbye with "Here (In Your Arms)". Not really sure what the genre is here but I remember seeing it on the Kerrang music channel and thinking it sounded a bit out of place there.

No marks for any of the other records so a really poor month.

Here's a list of the records with the best on top, worst at the bottom and the good ones in green, OK ones in amber and rubbish ones in red (and in no particular order):

Score: 11%

Here's a look at the chart:

The 2nd worst month so far, will June be the first month we score a zero?
