UK Number 40s: Lowgold - Beauty Dies Young (2001)

In the late 90s it was well documented that guitars were going out of fashion and people were more likely to be buying turntables to be a DJ. By 2001 though guitars were starting to make a comeback.

We were starting to see more indie bands in the charts with varying levels of success. Lowgold were one of those bands and this was their only Top 40 hit.

They were signed to Nude records who were having financial difficulties at the time. The label would collapse at the end of the year and it would be another 2 years until they got signed by another label. They carried on as a band until 2009.
