UK Number 40s: Engelbert Humperdinck - Quando Quando Quando (1999)

It's been a while since we've had one of these, Engelbert Humperdinck has had both a number 1 and a number 40. As he had the bulk of his hits in the 60s it's fair to say he was way past his commercial peak by this point.

He topped the charts with his debut hit "Release Me" in 1967. That record stayed in the charts for 56 weeks and held the record for longest consecutive run in the charts for quite some time. He was hugely successful in the charts in the early days and reached the Top 5 with his first 7 Top 40 hits. The wheels started to fall off in the 70s and it looked like his Top 40 career was over in 1972.

This record was originally recorded in 1968 but then in the late 90s he released "The Dance Album" which had dance remakes of some of his records as well as some new material. This have him his first Top 40 hit in 27 years. It would also be his final Top 40 hit to date.
