Unless you're a dance music fan there's a good chance you've never heard of Disco Citizens. There is however a good chance you've heard of Chicane.
Chicane for much of it's existence has been the stage name of Nick Bracegirdle. In the beginning though it was a collaboration of Nick Bracegirdle and Leo Elstob. They also went by the name Disco Citizens to make less radio friendly music. On that basis this record was perhaps destined to not get too high in the charts.
Usually in this sort of situation an artist gains a following with their more commercial music which enables them to sell something a bit more underground. Not with Chicane though as this record charted before Chicane had a Top 40 hit.
The Chicane Top 40 debut came at the end of 1996 with "Offshore". A further Disco Citizens hit followed in 1997 with "Footprint" and then it was all Chicane hits thereafter.
