The Osmonds were the big teen idol group of the early 70s, but from a UK perspective it began with a number 40.
They already had an American number on to their name with "One Bad Apple" in 1971, but that wasn't a Top 40 hit over here. This song was taken from their 3rd album "Phase III" which was them trying to move away from their teen idol status to a more rock sound and it was written by Alan Osmond and Merrill Osmond. It wasn't long before they reverted back to a more pop sound though.
Their Top 40 career in the 70s went on longer than any Osmond solo career with their final hit coming in 1976 and included the number one "Love Me For A Reason" in 1974, though Donny Osmond would have a couple of Top 40 hits beyond the 70s.
