In the mid-90s a number of British guitar bands started establishing themselves in the Top 40. This movement was of course known as Britpop and it was massive for a period of time. Then in the late 90s the decline started to happen.
The Bluetones were one of those successful Britpop bands who made their Top 40 debut in 1995 with "Are You Blind Or Are You Blind" and scored their biggest hit in 1996 with "Slight Return".
Despite the demise of Britpop though they continued to have hits into the 21st century with this being their final Top 40 hit to date. As a band they carried on releasing music until 2011. It's fair to say this peaked at 40 because they were past their commercial peak.
