UK Number 40s: Whitehead Brothers - Forget I Was A G (1995)

The Whitehead Brothers are the sons of John Whitehead. Some of you may be asking whos that? If I was to say one half of McFadden & Whitehead that should answer the question. Some may know them as the duo who had a solitary hit with "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now", others will also know them as songwriters on Philadelphia International Records.

The Whitehead Brothers themselves released their first album on Philadelphia International Records in 1986. They wouldn't return until 1994 when they released their 2nd and final album on Motown.

They made their UK Top 40 debut earlier on in 1995 with "Your Love Is A 187" which made number 32. Then came this which is their final Top 40 hit to date. It was also on the soundtrack to the film "Jasons Lyric".

The fact they had a famous father may have been a disadvantage especially as "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now" was being given a new lease of life around the same time by Luther Vandross.

They would release no further records and there's little on the internet to say what they've been up to since.
