Peter Straker is perhaps better known as an actor rather than a musician. Having just a solitary Top 40 hit that makes number 40, one could be forgiven for not realising he's had any sort of career in music.
I did not know of this records existence, but when I listened to it I thought it sounded familiar. That's because it's based on "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" by J.S.Bach.
It was written by Ken Howard and Alan Blaikley, who were a successful songwriting team with plenty of hits including a couple of number ones to their name.
