Nelly Furtado made her Top 40 debut in 2001 with "I'm Like a Bird" which was a pretty big hit at the time. She then promptly disappeared in 2002 but then came back at the end of 2003 with her 2nd album "Folklore".
She never really hit the same heights with the singles off her 2nd album and this was the 3rd and final one of these Top 40 hits. It was also the official record for Euro 2004 in Portugal. Nelly Furtado is Canadian but her family background is from Portugal.
The reality is you're likely to struggle with a football record in the UK charts unless you're record is supportive of England. The fact it was Portugal who would knock England out of the tournament wouldn't have helped this record either.
It would be another 2 years until we'd see Nelly Furtado back in the Top 40, but when she did return it was her most successful chart period which began with the chart topping "Maneater".
