When Paul Carrack appeared on Needle Time a few years ago, presenter Neil McCormick described him as a musician who's famous for being part of a number of music acts as opposed to one in particular.
In 1996 he was perhaps best known for being one of the singers in Mike & the Mechanics who'd made a return to the Top 40 the previous year after 4 years away with "Over My Shoulder".
As a solo artist he released his first single and album back in 1980, but this was his Top 40 debut which was the lead single from his 5th solo album "Blue Views". The fact he had actually made the Top 40 as a solo artist after all this time coupled with the fact he was 44 by this point would imply this number 40 would be regarded as a success.
He's had one more solo effort to date which has made the Top 40 which was a re-recording of "How Long", a record he made the Top 40 with as part of Ace back in 1974. It made number 20 the first time round and 32 the 2nd time.
Sandwiched between these 2 solo efforts was a remix of "All I Need Is A Miracle" by Mike & the Mechanics which made number 27.
