Runrig were a Celtic Rock band from Scotland who formed in the early 70s. They released several albums during the 70s and 80s and by the summer of 1991 they were popular enough to play a gig to 50,000 people.
However at that point they were yet to have a Top 40 hit. That would come in September of that year with "Hearthammer" reaching number 25.
In 1995 they hit the Top 20 for the first time with their 5th Top 40 hit "An Ubhal As Airde (The Highest Apple)" which reached number 18. Then came this record.
It was the only single from their "Mara" album and both single and album were released in November 1995. Therefore a logical explanation for this only reaching number 40 is their fans bought the album instead.
The following year they reached 24 with "Rhythm of my Heart" and for several years that looked to be their final Top 40 hit. However in 2007 they scored their biggest hit to date with "Loch Lomond" featuring The Tartan Army which was recorded for Children in Need and reached number 9.
The band finally called it a day in 2018.
