The first week of 1965 brought us perhaps the most obscure Number 40 we've had so far in the series. It's so obscure that it isn't even listed on everyhit.com
Long and the Short made their chart debut in September 1964 with "The Letter" (not a Box Tops cover) which reached 35. That's as good as it got for them as this was their follow up and final hit.
They don't even have a Wikipedia page and I found very little on them on the internet, but the songwriter of this song was Mike Leander who would have much more successful songs he wrote.
The song itself is randomly singing about different foods and ending with mentioning the Peppermint Twist. Given that whole twist craze was in 1962 and this was 1965 it was perhaps a bit outdated, which may explain why it only made 40.
