Michael Ball is a man who needs no introduction. Even if you're not familiar with his music you've probably come across him on TV or radio at some point.
If I was writing this when I began this series of posts I'd be saying this was his last Top 40 hit to date. Since then though he's topped the charts for the first time in 2020 with "You'll Never Walk Alone" alongside Captain Tom Moore.
His Top 40 career began in 1989 with his best known song "Love Changes Everything". He followed up 3 years later with the Eurovision entry "One Step Out Of Time". 2 years later came "From Here To Eternity" and another 2 years later came this.
It's a cover of the Labi Siffre song which reached number 4 in 1987. Another cover of the same song was done by Rik Waller in 2002.
Given that he's been around since the 80s and can still top the albums chart in the modern era he probably wouldn't have been too concerned about this only making number 40. As he can successfully release albums but had released countless singles that have failed to reach the Top 40, this one making the Top 40 may have been an achievement.
