When John Peel returned to Top of the Pops for the first time in 14 years in 1982 he introduced himself by saying "I'm the bloke who comes on your radio late at night and plays you records by lots of sulky Belgians". At that point in time the only Belgians to have had a Top 40 hit were Singing Nun, Chakachas, Plastic Bertrand and Telex and they were all one hit wonders except Plastic Bertrand who'd had 2 Top 40 hits.
We'd have to wait until late 1989 for the next Belgians to hit the Top 40, Technotronic. Between then and mid-1991 we also had Top 40 hits from Belgians Bizz Nizz, T99, Cubic 22 and the creators of this record, Quadrophonia. What all the acts had in common was that they all made dance music.
Quadrophonia are best known for the record called "Quadrophonia" which hit the Top 40 earlier on in the year. This was the lesser known follow up and is their final Top 40 hit to date.
Quadrophonia were a duo consisting of Olivier Abbeloos and Lucien Foort who was actually Dutch. Olivier Abbeloos was also a member of T99.
The fact this record got to number 40 would probably been seen as success. Not only was it one of several tunes to put Belgium on the map in terms of the charts, but it was also one of the earlier examples of the harder side of dance music making it's way into the Top 40.
