You wait years for a number 40, and then 2 come along at once. That must have been what Carl MacKintosh of Loose Ends was thinking when this record peaked at number 40. He had been co-writer of "UK Blak" by Caron Wheeler which was the previous record to peak at 40.
Loose Ends are best known for their debut Top 40 hit "Hangin' On A String (Contemplating)" which made number 13 in 1985. They followed up with "Magic Touch" later that year and "Slow Down" in 1986. Although they carried on releasing music, they wouldn't be back in the Top 40 until 1990 with "Don't Be A Fool" which matched the chart position of "Hangin' On A String (Contemplating)".
By this point Carl MacKintosh was the only original member of Loose Ends left. The music had changed to more of a Soul II Soul influenced sound. This is their final Top 40 hit to date. There were 2 more singles from the "Look How Long" album in 1991 which both failed to reach the Top 40 and Loose Ends had already called it a day in 1990.
