The 2nd week of 1965 and the 2nd record to peak at 40. Jim Reeves had died in a plane crash in 1964 and as the title suggests, this song is a tribute to him.
Larry Cunningham & The Mighty Avons started off as a Jim Reeves covers band and supported Jim Reeves himself on tour in 1963.
In a way it's a megamix before the megamix became a thing, it's four Jim Reeves songs which are separated by spoken tributes.
It would be the only UK Top 40 hit for Larry Cunningham & The Mighty Avons, but it was the first of many hits in their native Ireland.
