UK Number 40s: Holly & The Ivy's - Christmas On 45 (1981)

Every wondered what a collaboration between Pink Floyd and Dream Academy would sound like? Well this should give you an idea.

Holly & The Ivy's was a one off collaboration between Dave Gilmour of Pink Floyd and Nick Laird-Clowes of Dream Academy. It's basically a medley of traditional Christmas songs.

Apparently the way this collaboration came about was from a conversation between them about all the terrible medleys that had been in the charts that year, such as Stars on 45. That led them to the idea they should jump on the bandwagon and hence this record was made.

Chas & Dave also jumped on the medleys bandwagon and that same week they peaked at 21 with "Stars Over 45".
